Real records, not templates
Guided

A course, not a single long form

Employees work through Company, Fire, First Aid, Risk & COSHH and Equipment modules one at a time, acknowledging each before moving on to the next.

Step by step, not one form
Evidenced

Sign-off that stands up in an audit

Every module, and the final induction, is signed off with a typed name or a genuine drawn signature, with anything raised becoming a real Action Centre item.

Signed and actioned

Overview

Employee Induction runs as a course — one module at a time (Company, Emergency Arrangements, Fire, First Aid, Risk & COSHH, Equipment/Traffic, Rules & Reporting, Acknowledgement) — rather than a single long form.

Every module is auto-populated from the company's own real records: the actual current Health & Safety Policy, the risk assessments and COSHH assessments that genuinely apply to the employee's role and equipment, and the site's real Fire Risk Assessment — never a generic template.

Each module also carries real HSE/GOV.UK guidance for that topic, with links to the actual legislation and downloadable HSE documents (a policy template, a brief guide to COSHH, and others), so an employee can see what the law itself says, not just SafetyOps' own summary.

Why it matters

An induction that's just a generic PDF proves nothing in an audit. One that's built from the company's own current, real records — and that the employee genuinely signed — is what actually stands up to scrutiny.

Benefits

Real records, not a template

Auto-populated from the company's own current policy, risk assessments and COSHH assessments.

Typed or drawn signatures

Sign off each item, and the final induction, with a typed name or a genuine drawn signature.

Real HSE guidance, with documents

Every module links to real HSE/GOV.UK legislation pages and downloadable guidance documents.

Follow-up feeds the Action Centre

Anything found during the walkthrough becomes a real, tracked action — never a separate list.

Workflow

  1. An induction is created for an employee, for a site and role.
  2. Relevant Risk Assessments, COSHH assessments and the company's current H&S Policy are attached automatically.
  3. The employee (or a manager walking them through it) works through each module in turn, acknowledging what's been read and understood.
  4. Each item, and the final induction, is signed off with a typed name and, optionally, a drawn signature.
  5. Anything identified during the walkthrough becomes a real Action Centre item — never a separate, disconnected induction to-do list.

Interface

A dedicated interface for this module already exists in the SafetyOps application.

Frequently asked questions

Is the induction the same generic content for every company?

No — each module is auto-populated from that specific company's own current H&S Policy, risk assessments and COSHH assessments, matched to the employee's real role and equipment.

Can an employee sign the induction themselves, or does a manager have to do it?

Either — an employee can acknowledge it from their own account, or a manager/inducer can record a supervised acknowledgement, both with a typed name and, optionally, a drawn signature.
